In a unique approach, the company used its network of clients to design a Reg E solution created by credit unions for credit unions. Clients offered suggestions and provided lists of needs that helped DigitalMailer create a product that both encourages opt-ins and meets compliance standards related to new overdraft-protection guidelines.
The online service capitalizes on collected emails that credit unions already have on hand, while taking advantage of DigitalMailer's secure web forms, helping to keep the skyrocketing costs of compliance in check. Within days of the launch, four credit unions started using the system, including $765 million Seven Seventeen Credit Union, in Warren, Ohio, which serves 75,000 members.
"With the Reg E deadline just around the corner, we wanted to create a simple, affordable solution that filled the gaps that clients were seeing in their compliance plans," said Greg Crandell, DigitalMailer's Executive Vice President. The set of bundled services, available to clients and non-clients alike, includes secure online forms for collecting member opt-in/opt-out information; ready-made emails and marketing collateral; automated "thank you" replies to members; and tracking of member responses for credit union records.
