With just "one click," credit unions are finding significant cost savings, while adding increased security and convenience for their members. The new "One Click" e-statement enrollment program, offered through DigitalMailer and available to clients and non-clients alike, has credit unions seeing real results:
The recent increases in postage costs, along with the expenses of paper and printing, have made mailed statements even more costly for credit unions. DigitalMailer estimates credit unions spend around $1 per every paper statement they mail. But switching members from paper to online can be challenging, as the federal E-Sign Act prohibits institutions from simply moving all online customers to e-statements. Instead, members must sign up to receive electronic statements instead of paper ones - something many have been reluctant to do.

There are other e-statement benefits for members, too, says McNamara, such as increased security by eliminating statements being delivered to unattended mailboxes. Members also receive their statements much quicker - having immediate online access compared to the wait time with paper statements being printed, prepared for mailing and delivered. And record keeping is another key benefit, as e-statement members can retrieve their current and 18 months of past statements through an online archive.
