Northwest Federal Credit Union Puts DigitalMailer’s eStatements Over the 3 Million Mark
eStatement adoption rate grows at digital communications company

Herndon, Va. (June 13, 2006) – Since launching its eStatements program in 2000, DigitalMailer, Inc. has helped credit unions improve their member communications and operational efficiencies through the use of digital communications tools. In May, DigitalMailer reached a significant milestone: delivering its 3 millionth eStatement, completed on behalf of Northwest Federal Credit Union.

“We were DigitalMailer’s first eStatement client and we’ve never regretted it,” said Gerrianne Burks, EVP/COO of $1.5 billion Northwest Federal Credit Union. In the five years since Northwest Federal first launched the eStatement program, it’s seen a steady increase in usage among its members. “Today, we have just short of 50 percent of our total members receiving eStatements,” said Burks, “And the credit union has saved well over $750,000 in postage and print/mail cost from the program. While these savings alone are significant, it’s the impact on member service that is the most telling.  Members that enroll in e-statements have their important financial information quicker and they are more aware of product and service offerings through the excellent marketing opportunities presented through DigitalMailer.”

Ron Daly, DigitalMailer’s president/CEO, says that when the company entered the eStatement business, adoption was understandably slow, as eStatements were new and many consumers were unfamiliar with or wary of the concept. “It was almost four years before we reached our first 1 million eStatements, but it took only a year to reach 2 million,” he said. “Now, in less than nine months, we’ve passed the 3-million mark. Credit union members are seeing the convenience and faster availability of receiving their statements right at their desktops. And they see that it cuts down on fraud.”
